Papel Picado

Papel Picado means perforated paper. This is a traditional Mexican art form that requires small razor sharp chisels to cut through a block of tissue paper. Beautiful lattice work designs are incorporated with key figures, letters or objects that represent a holiday or family event. The panels are then stringed together to make a tira.

These pieces are made by Guillermo Morales De La Vega of Mexico City.
